Agartala: May 06: The Ministry of Home Affairs has selected Agartala, located near the India-Bangladesh border, as one of the sites for a nationwide security preparedness drill. The exercise comes in the wake of recent developments in regional diplomatic relations and aims to enhance readiness for various security scenarios.
Officials have announced that the civilian drill will take place on Wednesday across 259 locations in 27 states and eight union territories. The initiative is designed to inform citizens about appropriate measures to take in emergency situations.
Agartala’s inclusion in the drill is attributed to its proximity to the international border and evolving regional dynamics. Authorities intend to conduct exercises and implement precautionary measures to strengthen security.
Government directives outline preparedness steps, including verifying the functionality of emergency sirens and practicing blackout procedures designed to reduce visibility during potential aerial threats. Training will also focus on protective measures for key infrastructure, such as government facilities, transportation hubs, and essential services.
Officials describe the drill as a proactive step in national security readiness, emphasizing the importance of precautionary measures and public awareness in maintaining stability.
