ARDD Minister launched Animal Husbandry Fund Scheme

Agartala, December 13 : An initiative has been taken to encourage economically weaker breeders in rural areas of the state to take up animal husbandry. A new scheme named Chief Minister Savayapalak Sammannidhi Scheme has been launched under the Chief Minister Savayasampad Vikas Yojana to develop the rural economy and make the livestock keepers self-reliant. Beneficiaries of this project will be given one-time financial assistance of 6 thousand rupees. Animal Resource Development Minister Sudhanshu Das said this while inaugurating the Chief Minister Animal Husbandry Award Scheme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan today. It should be noted that the animal husbandry who have an annual income of less than Rs 2 lakh and have at least one dairy cow or 10 goats or an improved breed of pig will be given one-time financial assistance of 6 thousand rupees under this scheme. In the first phase, assistance will be given to 2,900 identified livestock keepers in the state. The total cost for this will be Rs 1 crore 74 lakh.

Animal Resource Development Minister Sudhanshu Das said on the occasion that the state government has been giving importance to the implementation of various projects of the central and state governments with integrity, transparency and time. Since 2018, the government has been trying to create self-entrepreneurship mentality among the people of the state. But in order to get success in this case, entrepreneurs must have strong determination and hard work mentality. He said that more than 36,000 families will be assisted by Rs 1,300 for rearing poultry and ducks under the Chief Minister’s Livestock Development Scheme to meet the demand for eggs and meat in the state. Under the Calf Growth Mill Scheme, advanced breed calves born on sex-sorted semen will be fed subsidized feed for nutrition and feed up to 3-12 months of age. Apart from this, in the Compensation for Loss of Livestock and Birds to the Financially Wreckers section scheme, a maximum of Rs 20,000 financial assistance will be given to poor families after the unusual death of domestic animals or birds. Also steps are being taken to improve the socio-economic system of the animal husbandry in the state through Mini Hatchery Scheme, National Livestock Mission and various other schemes. He said, in our country, agri allied sectors contribute 19-20 percent to the country’s GDP. Therefore, it is possible to take our state to the pinnacle of development through overall development of agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Deepak Majumder said that under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Sahar’s efficient management has brought radical changes in the development of the state. Since 2018, various programs are being undertaken for public welfare. Besides, the Acting President of West Tripura District Parishad Haridulal Acharya, Chief Secretary BS Mishra and Director of Animal Resources Development Department Dr. Neeraj Kumar Chanchal. During the event, the guests handed over checks and various items to the beneficiaries.
