Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath has emphasized that the newly introduced Farmers Registry is not just a data-collection initiative but the foundation of India’s evolving digital agriculture ecosystem. Chairing a high-level virtual meeting with the Agriculture Secretary, Directors of Agriculture and Horticulture, and BAC chairmen from the State Secretariat on Wednesday, Nath underscored the transformative impact the registry is expected to have on the agriculture sector.

He reiterated that the registry is mandatory for farmers to access government schemes, including PM-KISAN. Registration ensures that financial assistance reaches beneficiaries directly through bank transfers, eliminating middlemen and guaranteeing timely and transparent support.

Nath highlighted that the real strength of the Farmers Registry lies in its seamless integration with soil health cards, digital crop surveys, advisory services, and market linkages—creating a unified digital platform for farmers. By linking every farmer’s identity with Aadhaar and land records, the system minimizes duplication and enables accurate targeting of subsidies, crop insurance, loans, and agricultural inputs.

The Minister said the registry will also ease administrative processes, strengthen transparency, and pave the way for new opportunities in agri-tech. “Digital agriculture is not only simplifying procedures but also helping increase production and raise farmers’ income. It is about preparing our farming community for the future,” he remarked.

Once enrolled, each cultivator will receive a unique Farmer ID, enabling precise data collection on land, cropping patterns, and resource needs. This will assist the government in planning and implementing agricultural schemes more effectively. Farmers, in turn, will gain access to an integrated system that saves time, reduces costs, and enhances accountability across all services.

Appealing to farmers across the state, Nath urged them to complete their registration at the earliest to avoid missing out on key benefits—especially under PM-KISAN. “Let us embrace digital agriculture together and take the sector to new heights,” he added.
