Agartala: Feb 06: The Left Front and the Congress expressed concern over the state’s election situation and approached the Election Commission of Tripura. A delegation of the state’s main opposition Left Front and the Congress went to the state election commission on Friday afternoon and met the Chief Officer of the State Election Commission.CPIM State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury and MLA Sudip Roy Barman faced the media after receiving assurances from Election Commission Chief Officer Kiran Gitte of strict action to prevent terrorism. CPIM State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury said that all the initiatives taken by the Election Commission were focused on the upcoming assembly elections. Although the beginning is good, but now it is seen that the ruling party BJP wants to go ahead in the way that it has turned various state elections into a farce in the last five years. Therefore, the attention of the Election Commission has been drawn on this day.The Chief Electoral Officer assured that adequate arrangements have been made for free and peaceful polling. Everyone can vote. Then the Chief Electoral Officer was informed that some officers of the state were showing a soft attitude towards the ruling party. Those names were noted by the State Chief Officer of the Election Commission. They will investigate these matters. He said that action will be taken if those officials do not correct. MLA Sudip Roy Barman said that there are complaints of violent incidents, non-compliance with the Model Code of Conduct from all over the state. Those things have been reported. In addition, complaints have been made against some officers associated with the ruling party. The chief officer of the State Election Commission has assured that free and peaceful elections will be organized as per the assurance of the National Election Commission. Apart from this, measures will be taken to ensure that people can go to polling stations on polling day without fear. And the state chief election officer has assured that special measures will be taken so that everyone can vote. Congress leader Ashish Kumar Saha, Left Front convener Narayan Kar, National Congress editor Szarita Lightphrang was also present in the delegation.
