Agartala, August 2: Former Member of Parliament from the East Tripura Lok Sabha constituency, Rebati Tripura, has returned to his roots by rejoining the teaching profession after stepping away from active politics. The former parliamentarian has resumed his duties as a Post Graduate Teacher (Political Science) at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Higher Secondary School in Agartala, where he had served before entering public life.

His return marks a significant transition from national politics to the classroom, reflecting his decision to once again dedicate himself to shaping young minds through education. Before being elected to Parliament, Rebati Tripura was a respected teacher at the institution, and his rejoining has been welcomed by the school community.

Teachers, students and staff members extended a warm welcome to the former MP on his return. Many described his decision as an inspiring example of public service, noting that he has chosen to continue contributing to society by educating the next generation rather than remaining in active political life.

School authorities expressed confidence that Rebati Tripura’s experience in Parliament, combined with his academic background, would greatly benefit students, particularly those interested in political science, governance and public administration. His practical understanding of the country’s democratic institutions is expected to enrich classroom discussions and provide students with valuable real-world insights.

Speaking informally with colleagues, Rebati Tripura reportedly expressed happiness at returning to the profession that shaped his early career. He reiterated his belief that education remains one of the most powerful instruments for social transformation and nation-building.

Educationists and local residents have also appreciated his decision, describing it as a reminder of the dignity and importance of the teaching profession. They observed that his return to the classroom demonstrates that public service can continue in different forms, with teachers playing a crucial role in building an informed, responsible and empowered society.

Rebati Tripura’s move from Parliament back to the classroom is being viewed as a rare and commendable example of a public representative returning to his original profession. His decision underscores the enduring value of education and highlights the vital role teachers play in shaping the future of the nation.
