Agartala: Dec 31: An Indian youth, identified as Suman Mia (Rubel), has gone missing in Bangladesh, with claims of a ransom demand. The incident occurred in the Boxnagar area of Sonamura subdivision in Tripura, India. Suman Mia, a 35-year-old fertilizer dealer from the Kakaramuara ITI College area near Kolsimura market in Boxnagar, was last in contact with his wife on December 29.

Suman informed his wife that he needed to give his passport to someone and would be visiting his sister’s house in Comilla, Bangladesh. After leaving with his passport, he remained in contact with his wife until the afternoon. On December 30, Suman’s wife received a call from a Bangladeshi number, stating that Suman was detained at Comilla Kotwali Police Station and instructing his family to send someone from his sister’s house for his release.

When Suman’s relatives visited Comilla Kotwali Police Station, they were informed that there was no record of Suman being there. This prompted his parents to file a kidnapping complaint at Kalimachoura Police Station, claiming that their son had been abducted in Bangladesh.

It was later revealed that Suman had crossed the Agartala-Akhura border checkpoint into Bangladesh at 2:12 PM on December 29. His family has appealed to the authorities for his safe return. The situation now depends on the actions of the government and police to ensure Suman’s safe release and address the alleged abduction.
