Young Man Detained for Alleged Cannabis Smuggling at Udaipur Station

Agartala: Mar 16:  A young man was apprehended at Udaipur railway station on Sunday, reportedly attempting to smuggle cannabis. Despite consistent efforts by the police and railway authorities to curb cannabis smuggling, such incidents continue to occur regularly in the region.

According to police reports, six kilograms of dried cannabis were found in the possession of the individual, identified as Amit Dev Roy, aged 28, a resident of Amtali, Agartala. Authorities stated that they acted on confidential information regarding the contraband being transported on the Kanchanjunga Express, which runs from Sabroom to Sealdah. Upon arrival at Udaipur station, the railway police conducted a search, leading to the detention of the suspect.

 

Further investigations revealed that Amit Dev Roy is employed with HDFC Life Policy. The authorities are now deliberating the next steps to be taken in the case.
