Agartala: April 07: The weather department has issued a yellow alert for all districts of the southern state, warning of thunderstorms and moderate rainfall over the next five days. According to the department’s report, several districts may experience gusty winds with speeds reaching 30-40 km per hour, along with thunderstorms.
A cyclone has been identified over eastern Assam and neighboring areas at an altitude of 1.5 kilometers above sea level. This has resulted in light rainfall in isolated areas of West Tripura, Sepahijala, North, and Unakoti districts. Over the past 24 hours, dry weather has prevailed in other parts of Tripura. At midnight, wind speeds over Agartala Airport from the north-northeast direction reached 59 km per hour, causing damage in several areas. The weather department is currently assessing the extent of the damage.
The yellow alert specifically applies to North Tripura, Unakoti, Dhalai, Khowai, and West districts for the next five days. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in some areas, with gusty winds of 30-40 km per hour likely in isolated locations. Residents are advised to remain cautious and stay updated on weather forecasts.
