Acting on specific suspicion, police intercepted a vehicle along the Bypass Road and carried out a detailed search in the presence of a Duty Magistrate (DCM). During the operation, officers recovered approximately 4,000 Yaba tablets, estimated to be worth several lakhs of rupees in the illegal market.

Saddam Hossain, a resident of Sonamura Bezamara, is known to law enforcement agencies for his alleged involvement in narcotics trafficking. He had reportedly been absconding after being implicated in previous cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. His arrest is being seen as a major breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to dismantle drug networks operating in the region.

Officer-in-Charge of Bishalgarh Police Station, Bijoy Das, confirmed the seizure and arrest while addressing the media. He stated that the accused would be produced before the court on Thursday and that further investigation is underway to trace possible links in the supply chain.

Police officials said the successful operation reflects intensified surveillance and proactive policing to curb the spread of narcotics, particularly Yaba tablets, which have emerged as a growing concern in the state.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining strict vigilance and ensuring stringent legal action against repeat offenders. They also warned that sustained crackdowns would continue to target those involved in the illegal drug trade, with the aim of safeguarding communities from the harmful impact of narcotics.
