Agartala: May 15: In a significant development, two jail guards have been apprehended by the police in connection with the escape of convict Swarna Kumar Tripura from Bishalgarh Central Jail. The arrested guards are scheduled to appear before the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Court tomorrow, where police remand will be sought.

Yesterday, a sensational incident unfolded when Swarna Kumar Tripura managed to escape from Bishalgarh Central Jail. Following the escape, Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rakesh Chakraborty filed a written case against several jail guards at the Bishalgarh police station, alleging conspiracy. Promptly taking up the case, the police initiated an investigation.

During the course of their inquiry, the authorities arrested Central Jail guards Mohammad Mafiz Mia and Tapan Rupini. These arrests mark a critical step in addressing the security breach and ensuring accountability.
