Agartala: Feb 25: In a recent operation, two Bangladeshi nationals and an Indian tout were arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) for illegally entering Tripura. The incident took place at the Agartala railway station, where a coordinated operation was carried out by the GRP, Border Security Force (BSF), and Railway Protection Force (RPF). The operation was based on a tip-off that the suspects, two Bangladeshi citizens, were attempting to leave the state to travel abroad.

The arrested individuals include Arafat Hossain, a resident of Dhaka, and Zeenat Era, a 34-year-old woman from Bangladesh, who was traveling with her two-year-old child. The third person arrested was Sachin Kumar, a 22-year-old Indian tout, who allegedly facilitated their illegal entry into Tripura. Upon questioning, the detainees confessed to having crossed into India illegally through a border area, bypassing the barbed wire fence with the help of brokers.

This arrest highlights the ongoing issue of Bangladeshi infiltration into Tripura, despite the strict surveillance measures in place by the BSF. Illegal border crossings have become a frequent occurrence, often involving brokers who assist individuals in bypassing border security. Cases have been filed against the detained individuals, and they will be presented in court for further legal proceedings.

The arrest sheds light on the persistent challenges faced by law enforcement in preventing illegal immigration, despite the vigilance at the state’s borders.
