TSF leader said, “We have been demanding the use of Roman script in Kokborok for a long time, but the government has ignored our demand. We have taken to the streets today to raise our voice in the Tripura monsoon session of the assembly.”

The leader warned, “Our struggle will continue until the government fulfills our demand to use Roman script for Kokborok. If our demand is not met in the coming days, we will join a larger movement.”

The protesters are seeking recognition of the Roman script as a legitimate writing system for the Kokborok language, which is spoken by the indigenous Tripuri community.

The government’s response to the protesters’ demand is awaited. The TSF has vowed to continue its agitation until its demand is met.
