Agartala, September 17: Tripura University’s Central Library organised a campus awareness rally on Wednesday to highlight the importance of reading, independent learning and research among students.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Debabrata Das joined the programme, which was attended by faculty members, university officials and other members of the academic fraternity.

The initiative was designed to acquaint students with the academic facilities and resources available at the Central Library and encourage them to incorporate library use into their regular studies and research activities.

The university said Prof. Das backed the initiative and urged students to take greater advantage of the resources provided by the library.

University Librarian Dr Champeswar Mishra led the coordination of the rally with the Central Library team. Teachers and officials also participated in the programme and helped spread the message of developing a regular reading habit.

Organisers said a library has a role extending well beyond the provision of textbooks. Books, journals and other scholarly materials can help students access additional information, undertake reference work and develop a broader understanding of their subjects.

They also encouraged researchers and scholars to utilise the Central Library’s resources for academic inquiry and further study.

The campaign aimed to strengthen a culture of reading and research within the university. Organisers said encouraging students to pursue knowledge independently would complement classroom instruction and provide opportunities to explore topics outside the prescribed syllabus.

The awareness rally was part of the Central Library’s ongoing efforts to increase awareness of its facilities and encourage their wider utilisation across the university community.

The presence of the Vice-Chancellor, faculty members and officials also reinforced the university’s focus on promoting academic engagement through reading and research.

The Central Library team said it plans to continue awareness initiatives to introduce students and researchers to its resources and encourage their regular and effective use.
