Agartala, May 15: Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu on Thursday said the state has the potential to emerge as a model for effective military-civil coordination where armed forces, paramilitary agencies, police, intelligence units and civil administration work together in close cooperation while respecting each other’s institutional roles.
The Governor was addressing a seminar on “Military-Civil Fusion” held at the Alpha Auditorium of the Headquarters of 21 Sector Assam Rifles in Agartala. The seminar was organized to discuss coordinated governance and integrated security mechanisms in the context of evolving security challenges.
In his address, Governor Nallu described Tripura as a strategically important state with a complex security environment due to its long international border and difficult terrain in certain regions. He noted that some border areas provide opportunities for smuggling, illegal movement and other unlawful activities, making coordinated security arrangements essential for maintaining peace and stability.
“The safety and security of citizens depend on how effectively military forces, paramilitary units, police, intelligence agencies and civil administration work together,” he said.
The Governor also highlighted India’s growing reputation in defence and strategic cooperation at the international level. He said many countries now look towards India for military partnership, technological collaboration and strategic guidance because of the country’s demonstrated capability and restraint in difficult situations.
Referring to the future of warfare, Governor Nallu said modern conflicts would increasingly involve artificial intelligence, drones, cyber warfare, sensors and network-based operations rather than conventional weapons alone. He stressed the need for Tripura to strengthen its strategic infrastructure, surveillance systems and technical preparedness to face future challenges.
“Peace is not merely the absence of war; peace is the presence of strength,” he remarked while calling for greater coordination among all institutions involved in security and governance.
The Governor said the seminar was organized to mark the first anniversary of “Operation Sindoor,” which symbolized precision, coordination and strategic effectiveness.
Several senior officials delivered presentations during the seminar, including Tripura DGP Anurag Dhankar, IG BSF Tripura Frontier Aloke Kumar Chakraborty, Brigadier D K Singh, Home Secretary Abhishek Singh and Brigadier Nishan Chandel of Assam Rifles.
The seminar was attended by students, teachers, civil administration officials and representatives from various security agencies.
