Agartala, Nov 6: Tripura will join the nation in celebrating the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, the timeless patriotic song penned by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, with a series of programmes beginning on November 7, 2025.
In a video message, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha extended warm greetings to the people of Tripura and urged everyone to actively participate in the upcoming historic celebration. He described Vande Mataram, written in 1875, as a song that has inspired generations of Indians to dedicate themselves to the service of Bharat Mata.
Calling it “the world’s greatest hymn to the motherland,” Dr. Saha said the song played a pivotal role in igniting the spirit of liberation and sacrifice during India’s freedom struggle and continues to resonate with patriotic fervor today.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a year-long nationwide commemoration will be held from November 7, 2025, to November 7, 2026, marking 150 years of Vande Mataram.
The Chief Minister announced that the state-level inaugural ceremony will take place in Agartala, with simultaneous observances across all districts and subdivisions. Government offices, schools, and colleges will organize special events to honor the legacy and emotional significance of India’s national song.
Dr. Saha appealed to citizens to join the celebrations wholeheartedly and to share photos and videos of their participation on official portals, fostering a collective spirit of unity and pride.
“Vande Mataram is not merely a song—it embodies India’s national consciousness, dignity, and devotion,” he said, expressing confidence that the anniversary celebration will inspire people to contribute to the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’, a developed India envisioned by Prime Minister Modi.
