The programme brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, startup founders and ecosystem stakeholders to equip them with practical business development skills while connecting them to national-level mentorship and growth opportunities.

The event began with a welcome address by Jeya Ragul Geshan B, IFS, Director of Information Technology, followed by a keynote address from Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary, Information Technology. Addressing the participants, Gitte reiterated the Tripura government’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship, promoting innovation and positioning the state as an emerging startup destination in the Northeast.

Experts from IIMA Ventures—Abhimanyu Saxena, Shilpa Jain and Gayatri Baruah—conducted interactive sessions introducing participants to the Northeast Growth Lab initiative. They explained the programme’s objectives, application process, eligibility criteria and the opportunities available for selected startups.

A major highlight of the workshop was the Value Proposition session, where entrepreneurs were guided on developing compelling business models and clearly articulating the unique value of their products and services. Participants engaged in practical exercises, prepared value proposition worksheets and received expert feedback to refine their business ideas.

Adding a motivational element to the event, a successful entrepreneur from Tripura shared her startup journey, discussing the challenges she faced and the opportunities available for businesses in the region. Her experience inspired participants and highlighted the importance of resilience, innovation and perseverance in entrepreneurship.

Officials said the enthusiastic response from local startups reflected the growing entrepreneurial spirit in Tripura. They noted that the workshop not only enhanced participants’ business planning capabilities but also provided exposure to national networks, mentors and potential investors.

The NEGL initiative is expected to create new avenues for investment, collaboration and capacity building, complementing the state’s broader vision of promoting digital innovation, youth entrepreneurship and sustainable economic growth.

The Directorate of Information Technology said similar programmes would be organised in the future to ensure startups in Tripura continue to receive access to mentorship, resources and market linkages needed to scale their ventures and compete nationally.
