Agartala, Dec 16:
The Tripura government on Tuesday signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust to promote multi-sectoral investment and develop forest- and agriculture-based value chains in the state. The MoUs were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Prof (Dr) Manik Saha between the state’s Industries and Commerce Department and the Forest Department on one side, and Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust on the other. Director of Industries and Commerce Dr Deepak Kumar signed the agreement on behalf of the Industries and Commerce Department, while Principal Chief Conservator of Forests R K Samal represented the Forest Department. Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust was represented by its CEO and Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna.

The signing ceremony was held at the conference hall of the Tripura Institution for Transformation and was attended by Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Officer on Special Duty to the Chief Minister Paramananda Sarkar Banerjee, senior government officials from various departments, and representatives of the Patanjali group.

Speaking to reporters after the event, Chief Minister Manik Saha said the state government is working towards building a “New Tripura” in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “New India”. He highlighted that Tripura is rich in natural resources and has significant potential across multiple sectors, including agriculture, forest produce and allied industries.

The chief minister said the government is making sustained efforts to harness these resources, attract investments from outside the state and enhance Tripura’s visibility at national and international levels. Referring to the guiding principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas”, Saha said the government remains committed to inclusive and holistic development.

He expressed hope that the MoUs would open new avenues for economic growth and employment generation in Tripura. With Patanjali’s support, the state could move towards becoming an ‘organic state’ in the future, he added.

Addressing the gathering, Acharya Balkrishna said Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust is keen to contribute to Tripura’s development. He expressed interest in working in sectors such as agriculture, forest-based industries, religious tourism, information technology and skill development. He assured full cooperation in transforming Tripura into a model state in the coming years.
