The financial aid has been sanctioned for Poonam Dey, a resident of East Champamura in Old Agartala. Poonam, daughter of Debal Dey, has been undergoing advanced cancer treatment and required urgent financial support to continue her medical care. Following an appeal from the patient’s family, Biplab Kumar Deb promptly forwarded the request to the PMNRF for consideration.

Deb said the sanction was approved within a very short time, ensuring that the patient received critical support without delay. He highlighted that Prime Minister Modi has consistently demonstrated empathy and sensitivity in responding to requests for medical assistance, particularly in cases involving life-threatening illnesses.

“In almost every instance where appeals for advanced medical treatment were sent, the Prime Minister responded with sincerity and urgency,” Deb said. He added that such timely interventions often prove to be a lifeline for families struggling with the high costs of specialised treatment.

The former chief minister noted that the latest sanction reflects the Prime Minister’s compassionate approach to governance and his strong commitment to supporting citizens during medical emergencies. According to Deb, assistance through the PMNRF has helped many patients across the country access essential treatment that would otherwise be beyond their financial reach.

Deb also acknowledged the importance of quick coordination between elected representatives and central authorities in ensuring that relief reaches beneficiaries on time. He said he would continue to extend support to people in need and facilitate access to welfare schemes and relief funds.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the patient’s family, Deb said the financial assistance would significantly ease the burden of treatment expenses and provide much-needed relief during a difficult period. He reiterated his thanks to Prime Minister Modi, describing the support as a symbol of hope and reassurance for citizens facing serious health challenges.
