Tripura has intensified its efforts to strengthen international engagement and attract global investment under the ambitious Destination Tripura 2026 initiative, with senior state officials holding high-level discussions with diplomats from Jordan and the Philippines in New Delhi this week.

A delegation led by Deepak Kumar, Managing Director of the Tripura State Industrial Development Corporation (TSIDC) and Director of Industries & Commerce, met representatives of the Embassy of Jordan and the Embassy of the Philippines to explore avenues for collaboration in key sectors. The meetings were organized in association with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) as part of Tripura’s broader strategy to position itself as an emerging investment destination in Northeast India.

During discussions with Jordanian Ambassador Yousef Abdelghani, both sides explored opportunities for cooperation in tourism, agriculture, food processing, healthcare, and education. The dialogue focused on strengthening economic ties, facilitating business exchanges, and creating investment opportunities that could benefit local communities while opening new markets for Jordanian enterprises.

The delegation also held talks with Melissa Anne Telan, Second Secretary at the Embassy of the Philippines, where discussions centred on information technology, digital innovation, startups, skill development, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and tourism. Both sides expressed interest in promoting knowledge sharing, innovation, and capacity-building initiatives that could contribute to sustainable economic growth.

Highlighting Tripura’s strengths, Deepak Kumar showcased the state’s investor-friendly policies, improving infrastructure, enhanced connectivity, and strategic location as India’s gateway to Southeast Asia. He emphasized the state government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for businesses and fostering international partnerships.

The diplomats were invited to participate in the Destination Tripura Roadshow 2026, scheduled to be held in Agartala on July 9–10, where the state will present its investment potential and development opportunities to national and international stakeholders.

Officials said the outreach initiative reflects Tripura’s determination to deepen global engagement, attract foreign investments, boost entrepreneurship, and generate employment opportunities. The effort is also expected to strengthen the state’s role in India’s Act East Policy, while reinforcing its position as a growing hub for innovation, enterprise, and inclusive development in the region.
