Agartala, July 30: The Tripura government on Thursday clarified that the recruitment examination for Community Health Officers (CHOs) under the National Health Mission (NHM) was conducted in a fair and transparent manner, dismissing allegations of question paper leakage and other irregularities.

Addressing a press conference at the Civil Secretariat, Chief Minister’s Secretary Kiran Gitte said the government had constituted an inquiry committee after a section of candidates raised concerns over the recruitment process. The committee carried out a detailed investigation into all aspects of the examination and found no evidence of malpractice or paper leakage.

“The probe committee examined every issue related to the conduct of the examination. It has concluded that the recruitment test was held in a completely transparent manner, and the allegations regarding a question paper leak are baseless,” Gitte said.

The recruitment examination was conducted on February 1 to fill 126 Community Health Officer posts under the National Health Mission. The examination was organised by the designated recruitment agency across 12 examination centres in the state.

According to official figures, 2,614 candidates appeared for the examination, and the results were declared on July 15.

Gitte pointed out that no complaints regarding any alleged paper leak or irregularities were received before the declaration of the results. It was only after the results were announced that some candidates raised objections, prompting the government to order an independent inquiry.

He said the committee thoroughly scrutinised the examination process, including the conduct of the test, security arrangements, evaluation procedures and other relevant aspects before submitting its report.

Based on the findings, the government has concluded that the examination process was conducted in accordance with prescribed guidelines and without any unfair practices.

Appealing to candidates to maintain confidence in the recruitment system, Gitte said the government remains committed to ensuring transparency, accountability and fairness in all recruitment examinations conducted by the state.

NHM Tripura Mission Director Saju Vaheed A was also present during the press conference and reiterated that the recruitment process had been carried out strictly as per established norms.

The government maintained that the inquiry report has cleared the recruitment process of all allegations, bringing clarity to the controversy surrounding the CHO recruitment examination.
