In a significant recognition of his contribution to sustainable agriculture, Bidhan Das, a progressive farmer from Dwarikapur village in Kalyanpur, has been honoured at the state level by the Tripura Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare for his pioneering efforts in organic farming.

The award was presented during a special review meeting held in Agartala, where Das was felicitated for his dedication to promoting eco-friendly and chemical-free agricultural practices. His achievement has not only brought pride to his family and village but has also emerged as an inspiration for farmers across Kalyanpur and other parts of the state.

Over the years, Bidhan Das has consistently worked towards reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Through determination, innovation and a deep commitment to environmental sustainability, he gradually transitioned to fully organic farming methods. His success has demonstrated that organic cultivation can be both economically rewarding and environmentally responsible.

Agricultural experts have praised Das for setting an example in sustainable farming. They point out that organic agriculture improves soil fertility, enhances crop quality, preserves biodiversity and reduces environmental pollution. Moreover, organically grown produce contributes to better public health by minimizing exposure to harmful chemicals.

Officials of the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department said Das’s achievement reflects the growing potential of organic farming in Tripura. His efforts have encouraged many farmers in Kalyanpur and nearby areas to explore organic cultivation as a viable alternative to conventional farming methods. Inspired by his success, several cultivators have already started adopting eco-friendly agricultural practices.

Speaking on the occasion, a senior agriculture department official stated that the government is committed to promoting sustainable agriculture and supporting farmers who embrace innovative and environment-friendly techniques. “The recognition received by Bidhan Das proves that farmers who adopt scientific and sustainable methods can achieve economic success while contributing to environmental conservation,” the official said.

The honour has generated fresh enthusiasm among the farming community in Kalyanpur. Many believe that Bidhan Das’s accomplishment will encourage a wider shift toward organic farming across the region, helping build a stronger, healthier and more sustainable agricultural sector in Tripura.

His success story stands as a testament to how dedication, innovation and sustainable practices can transform agriculture while benefiting both farmers and society at large.
