Tripura Government Initiates Model Village Development Program

Agartala, March 7: The Tripura government has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform 155 villages into model villages through the Chief Minister’s Model Village Scheme (CMMVS). This strategic initiative aims to enhance the overall well-being of rural communities across the state.

Panchayat and Chief Minister, Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, shared this significant development during a session in the state assembly. The scheme, launched in 2021-22, focuses on comprehensive village development, encompassing critical areas such as agriculture, health, education, infrastructure, and sanitation.

In addition to these core aspects, the identified model villages will address specific challenges. Ensuring widespread immunization coverage, enhancing educational opportunities for children, Linking women to self-help groups for self-reliance,promoting hygiene and nutrition awareness.

Each identified village has received financial support from the government. As of December 31, 2023, an additional amount of Rs 12,63,635 has been allocated to each village. Furthermore, post that date, an additional Rs 1,81,818 has been disbursed to further bolster development efforts.

The state administration has earmarked a substantial budget of Rs 100 crore for the CMMVS in the 2023-24 fiscal year. By fostering model villages, Tripura aims to elevate the quality of life for its rural populace, emphasizing holistic progress and sustainable growth.
