Agartala:
In a significant boost to Tripura’s organic agriculture sector, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Thursday flagged off a consignment of 1,000 kilograms of organic white sesame destined for Gujarat under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for the North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER). The development highlights the growing national demand and credibility of organic produce cultivated by Tripura’s farmers.
The consignment was jointly marketed by Loknath Organic Farmer Producer Company (FPC), Dhalai Organic FPC, and Yapri Organic FPC. The produce has been supplied to Media Minds, a subsidiary of Amul, at Anand in Gujarat. This successful inter-state shipment reflects the strengthening market linkages for Tripura’s organic products and reinforces the state’s position in India’s organic value chain.
Addressing the occasion, Minister Nath said the dispatch was not merely a commercial transaction but a symbolic beginning of a new phase in the expansion of Tripura’s organic agricultural markets at the very start of the New Year. He emphasized that the state government is committed to further strengthening the organic marketing ecosystem, directly connecting farmers with buyers, and expanding market access at state, inter-state, and international levels.
“2026 will be a year of new possibilities, innovative initiatives, and the opening of new markets for Tripura’s organic agriculture. This shipment represents the collective efforts of our farmers, FPCs, and the government working together,” the Minister said.
Nath also acknowledged the vital role played by the International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA) and Sheel Biotech in ensuring certification, quality assurance, and market linkage for the produce. He noted that such institutional support is essential for maintaining standards and building trust in organic products.
Extending New Year greetings, the Minister conveyed his best wishes to farmers, Farmer Producer Companies, concerned government departments, and partner organisations. He expressed confidence that 2026 would bring higher farm incomes, stronger organic value chains, and new opportunities for sustainable and market-driven agricultural development in Tripura.
