Agartala, Nov 3 : School computer teachers across Tripura on Tuesday launched a coordinated statewide campaign, submitting memorandums to Chief Minister Manik Saha through district magistrates in all eight districts, seeking implementation of pending salary revision and improvement in their service conditions.
The All Tripura School Computer Teachers’ Association (ATSCTA) said the initiative was aimed at drawing the government’s attention to several long-pending demands concerning salary structures, employment security, service benefits and other professional grievances.
The association claimed that despite repeated representations to the authorities over the past several years, several of its demands remained unresolved, prompting it to seek direct intervention from the chief minister.
A major demand raised in the memorandum is the implementation of the 2021 guidelines concerning salary enhancement for school computer teachers, which the organisation said has been pending for years.
Besides the proposed salary revision, the association submitted a 12-point charter of demands covering service conditions, employment benefits, wage structure, job security and other issues affecting computer teachers working in schools across the state.
Association leaders pointed out that computer education has become an integral part of the modern school curriculum, but teachers engaged in imparting digital education continue to face uncertainty over their salaries and employment-related benefits.
They maintained that resolving these issues would improve the financial and professional security of teachers while contributing to a more effective computer education system in government schools.
As part of the statewide programme, delegations of the association submitted memorandums to the respective district magistrates for onward transmission to the chief minister.
In Khowai district, a delegation handed over the memorandum to the district magistrate. ATSCTA state committee member Sanku Sarma, Khowai district president Binoy Kumar Saha, district general secretary Akash Das and several other office-bearers and members participated in the programme.
The association expressed hope that the state government would consider its demands favourably and initiate concrete measures to address the grievances.
It said an early decision on the salary revision and other service-related matters would boost the morale of computer teachers and ensure greater stability in school-level digital education.
The teachers’ body urged the government to resolve the issues at the earliest, stating that its members had been awaiting a favourable decision for several years.
