Agartala, January 8 : There are currently 6891 vacancies in the State Defense Department. Prananjit Singh Roy, the minister in charge of the home minister, gave this information in response to the question raised by MLA Narayan Sarkar during the question and answer session on the second day of the winter session of the 11th Legislative Assembly today. According to him, filling the vacancies is a continuous process. The process of filling up vacant posts is also underway in the Defense Department. He added that it is not possible to say when the vacancy will be filled.

CPM MLA Narayan Sarkar raised additional questions and claimed that the security of the state is in the hands of the defense department based on the information received in the assembly about the vacancies in the defense department. Two IR battalions have been sanctioned in the state. Recruitment is not possible. But, there should be no problem in other vacancies. Therefore, he demanded that a specific date be given to fill the vacancy.
