Sourav Ganguly sign agreement for Tripura tourism brand ambassador

Agartala: Dec 11: The tourism industry has many potentials for development. The tourism industry in the state will further develop under the leadership of Sourav Ganguly, former Indian cricket captain and Tripura’s brand ambassador for tourism. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said this while welcoming Sourav Ganguly, Tripura’s brand ambassador for tourism at the exchange of agreement ceremony at Ujjayanta Palace this evening. He hoped that the journey of the former Indian cricket captain would be smooth with the tourism of Tripura.

Tourism Minister said, Sourav Ganguly is the pride of our country. A few months ago, when he was offered to be the brand ambassador of Tourism Tripura, he immediately accepted it. Tourism Minister Shri Chowdhury said that from tomorrow the former India captain will start the work of highlighting Tripura’s tourism in front of the whole world. He expressed hope that this work will proceed very successfully.

 

In a press conference at Ujjayanta Palace this evening, Sourav Ganguly expressed his satisfaction that the Tripura government has nominated him as the brand ambassador. Expressing the feeling of coming here, he said that he first came to Tripura to play in 1988. After 35 years, becoming the brand ambassador of tourism of this state is a big deal.

He thanked Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury for getting this responsibility and said that he will do his best to promote the tourism of this state before the country and the world. Calling Agartala as a very beautiful city in the press conference, he said, it is very good to see such a beautiful palace. The beauty, tradition here will attract everyone. He said, North East region is the pride of India. A lot of talent is hidden here. He said that if his help is sought for the development of cricket in Tripura besides tourism, he will try his best to do so.

 

Former India captain said, cricket is an emotion in India. The small hill state of Tripura has made great strides in cricket as well. He expressed hope that large-scale cricket events will be organized in this state in the future. He said, if there is an international match in neighboring Guwahati, why not here? Therefore, he emphasized on completing the construction of the cricket stadium under construction. He also said that he would be happy if he could use his cricket experience in Tripura cricket. Sourav Ganguly, Brand Ambassador of Tripura Tourism said, Tripura has many similarities with Bengal. Especially language and culture are almost one. Naturally, the pleasure of working with this state is different.

 

On behalf of Agartala Municipal Corporation, AMC Mayor Deepak Majumder and Tripura Cricket Association President Tapan Lodh welcomed him at Ujjayant Palace. In the event, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and Brand Ambassador Sourav Ganguly exchanged agreements. Tourism Department Secretary UK Chakma, Tourism Department Director Tapan Kumar Das and others were present on the occasion.
