Tripura, May 11: The state government’s preparedness for natural disasters has come under scrutiny as Tripura faces a severe shortage of petrol and diesel. The recent spell of rain and storm has exacerbated the situation, leading to long queues at fuel stations. Customers endure hours of waiting, often leaving empty-handed due to the scarcity of fuel.

Opposition leader Jitendra Chowdhury expressed his concern during a press conference today. He criticized the Chief Minister’s absence from the state, noting that despite the law and order challenges, the Chief Minister is campaigning in West Bengal. The situation has escalated to the point where police have resorted to lathi-charging agitated crowds at fuel stations.

Chowdhury highlighted that the state government traditionally implements additional measures to address drought and flood situations. However, the current triple-engine government seems indifferent to the crisis, focusing instead on election campaigns. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of development in the Northeast remains a topic of debate.

As the situation unfolds, citizens hope for swift action to alleviate the fuel shortage and restore normalcy to public life in Tripura.
