Agartala: Mar 13: In recent days, Agartala city and its outskirts have witnessed a spate of daring dacoities and thefts, leaving the local police grappling with investigations. The surge in criminal incidents has raised concerns about security arrangements ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
The district administration has turned its attention to the India-Bangladesh border, recognizing it as a critical area for maintaining law and order. In response, a Section 144 order has been enforced along a portion of this border.
Section 144 Imposed: The District Magistrate of Sepahijala district issued a Section 144 order specifically for the border regions of Sonamura and Bishalgarh subdivisions. This order restricts movement within 200 meters of the border between 8 pm and 5 am for the next three months.
While the ban applies to most individuals, certain groups are exempted. These include personnel from the Border Security Force (BSF), local police, district officials, sub-divisional administrators, and emergency services personnel.
The directive will remain in effect from Wednesday, March 13, and continue for the next three months.
As the electoral landscape heats up, authorities are keenly focused on maintaining security and preventing any untoward incidents along this sensitive border area.
