Agartala: Sept 09: Eminent literary writer Manas Debbarman passed away this afternoon at his residence on Harish Thakur Road in Krishna Nagar. He was 84 years old. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. Upon hearing the news of his demise, prominent personalities, including former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, visited his residence. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha also expressed his condolences.
Manas Debbarman was a distinguished poet, writer, and socially conscious creative individual in the state. In addition to his teaching career, he served as the Chairman of the Tripura Public Service Commission and was a member of the UPSC. His passing marks the loss of a significant cultural figure and an elder statesman in the community.
Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha expressed his sorrow, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Manas Debbarman, a distinguished poet, writer, and cultural personality of the state.” He added, “I pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul and express my deep condolences to the bereaved family members.”
