Agartala, May 14: Tipra Motha Party founder and former Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Pradyot Kishore Debbarman paid a surprise visit to the Congress Bhavan in Agartala on Wednesday, sparking speculation about possible political developments.

During his visit, Debbarman interacted warmly with several of his former Congress colleagues and held a brief meeting with Congress Working Committee (CWC) member and MLA Sudip Roy Barman. The visit comes amid growing curiosity about shifting political alignments in the state ahead of upcoming elections.

Speaking to media persons outside the Congress office, Debbarman clarified the purpose of his visit, stating that he had a prior commitment to fulfil, which brought him to the Congress Bhavan. “I had some party items like flags and flexes that were left at my residence from earlier times. I returned them today,” he said, brushing aside any suggestion of political negotiations or rejoining the Congress.

He further urged the media not to draw unnecessary political interpretations from his visit. “Please don’t speculate. I share cordial relations with leaders from all parties, though I do have ideological differences with the CPIM,” Debbarman added.

Known for his regional political stance and advocacy for indigenous rights, Debbarman’s visit to his former party’s headquarters triggered a wave of interest in political circles. However, he firmly maintained that his stop at Congress Bhavan was non-political in nature.

Pradyot Kishore Debbarman had earlier resigned from the Congress to launch the Tipra Motha Party, which has since emerged as a significant force in Tripura politics. Despite leaving the Congress, he remains a prominent figure in the state’s political landscape and continues to attract attention with every public move.
