Fresh incidents of violence have been reported from different parts of Tripura following the announcement of the TTAADC election results on April 17, raising concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. The latest episode occurred on Monday night at Natun Bazar in Manu Bankul, where miscreants allegedly set fire to a local BJP party office and vandalised nearby property, triggering tension in the area.

According to local sources, unidentified individuals carried out the attack under the cover of darkness, leaving behind significant damage. The incident has sparked outrage among BJP workers and supporters, who have strongly condemned the act and demanded strict action against those responsible.

In another troubling development, nearly 20 rubber trees belonging to BJP youth leader Sushanta Mog from Manu were reportedly cut down in his plantation. The destruction of the trees has added to the growing sense of unrest and has further intensified political tensions in the region.

Local BJP leaders have alleged that supporters of Tipra Motha were behind both incidents. While no official confirmation has been made, party representatives have voiced strong criticism, accusing their rivals of promoting violence despite public appeals for unity.

Speaking to the media, a BJP leader questioned the contradiction between Tipra Motha’s repeated calls for “Thansa,” which signifies unity in Kokborok, and the reported attacks on BJP workers and infrastructure. “If their leadership speaks of peace and unity, then how do such acts of violence align with that message?” he asked. He also expressed disappointment that such incidents occurred on the day of Garia Puja, a significant festival for the indigenous communities, stating that it was unfortunate to witness conflict during a time meant for celebration and harmony.

Local party leaders confirmed that the matter has been reported to senior officials in Agartala, and they are awaiting further instructions. They described the incidents as deeply unfortunate and appealed for calm, urging all sides to refrain from violence.

With multiple such incidents being reported in recent days, concerns are growing over the fragile post-election environment in Tripura, highlighting the urgent need for effective administrative intervention to restore peace and stability.
