A BJP worker was allegedly abducted, assaulted, and robbed in Tripura’s Udaipur subdivision, triggering fresh political tensions in the Garji area. The victim, identified as Raju Dey, has accused members and supporters of the TIPRA Motha Minority Cell of carrying out the attack, an allegation that has intensified concerns over growing political rivalry in the region.
According to reports, the incident took place on Sunday evening when Raju Dey was returning home after work. He alleged that a group of individuals intercepted him and forcibly took him to a secluded location in Dataram Mayapuri. There, he was allegedly assaulted and threatened before his gold chain was snatched.
Local residents who became aware of the incident alerted the police, prompting an immediate response from officers of the Garji Outpost. Acting swiftly, police launched a search operation and managed to trace and rescue Dey nearly two hours after he was reportedly abducted. He was subsequently brought to safety and provided assistance.
Following the incident, a formal complaint was lodged at the Radha Kishorepur Police Station. Police have initiated an investigation to identify those involved and determine the exact circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction and assault. Authorities are also examining whether the incident was linked to ongoing political tensions in the area.
In his complaint, Raju Dey claimed that the attack was not a random act of violence but was connected to previous political disputes and confrontations.
