Agartala, September 10, 2024: On August 6th, various items were stolen from a ward office in the Jackson area of the capital. Following a complaint filed at the East Agartala police station, the police launched an investigation and formed a committee. Sunil Debbarma, previously involved in a theft case, was arrested from Maharajganj Bazar.

During interrogation, Debbarma was linked to the theft case, leading to the recovery of various stolen items, including a generator, electric fans, and a motor. Further interrogation provided information about the entire gang, resulting in the arrest of six additional thieves.

The investigation revealed their involvement in a theft at a Kali temple in Chandrapur a few days prior. This led to the arrest of two more individuals, Abhijit Debnath and Sanjay Roy, from whom the stolen gold chain was recovered. In total, eight people have been arrested.

The police are currently interrogating the suspects in remand to gather evidence about other individuals involved and to obtain information about other theft cases that have occurred in the past few months. The sub-divisional police officer believes that this will provide valuable insights into recent theft activities.
