Agartala: May 14: Swaran Kumar Tripura, a notorious NLFT militant, successfully escaped from Bishalgarh Central Jail this morning. This marks the third time he has managed to break free from incarceration.

Swaran Kumar Tripura’s history of jailbreaks is concerning. He previously escaped from Bishalgarh Central Jail in December 2016 and later from Kanchanpur Jail in January 2022. Authorities are now faced with the challenge of recapturing him once again.

Following the escape, a search operation was promptly initiated within the jail premises. High-ranking officials, including the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police from Sepahijala district, rushed to the scene to assess the situation.

Despite the urgency of the situation, no official comment has been obtained from the jail superintendent, Debashish Shil. However, sources suggest that there may be financial implications tied to the escape. Allegations have surfaced, accusing Superintendent Shil of involvement in planning the blueprint for the militant’s latest breakout.

The authorities must act swiftly to apprehend Swaran Kumar Tripura and prevent further security breaches. The incident highlights the need for enhanced security measures within correctional facilities to prevent such escapes in the future.
