Agartala: Nov 12: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has issued a notice to a person from Tripura on suspicion of links with the Bangladesh-based Islamic extremist group Al-Qaeda. The individual, identified as Kauchar Ahmed from Sonamura, Sipahijala district, has been summoned for questioning at the NIA office in Ahmedabad on November 21. This action is part of a broader crackdown carried out by the NIA across six states, including Tripura, Assam, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, and West Bengal. The operation aims to address growing concerns about Al-Qaeda’s expanding network in India, especially in these regions.

According to NIA officials, there is evidence suggesting that some individuals in these states are financially supporting Al-Qaeda, providing funds and resources to the terrorist organization. During the raids, the NIA seized mobile phones, banking documents, and records related to financial transactions, all of which are being scrutinized for further evidence. The ongoing investigation underscores the increasing vigilance of Indian authorities in countering the spread of Islamist militancy and extremism linked to global terror networks.
