Nesha Mukt Tripura campaign continues unrelenting efforts of state police against drugs: Chief Minister

Agartala, October 21: State Police is continuing its relentless efforts against drugs in the Nesha Mukt Tripura campaign. This was said by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha at Police Martyr Memorial Day celebrations at Manoranjan Debvarma Memorial Stadium in Police Lines Arundhatinagar, Agartala today. He added that the state government believes in transparent policies. So things should be done with transparency so that people remember them in future.

21st October is observed as Police Martyrs Memorial Day across the country. On this day, those brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the service of the country are remembered with respect. Incidentally, on this day in 1959, 10 Indian soldiers were martyred in an ambush by the Chinese army on patrolling the hot springs area of Ladakh. Police Martyrs Memorial Day is observed to commemorate that day.

 

Today Police Martyr Memorial Day was celebrated with due dignity in the state along with the whole country. Rajo’s main event is organized at Manoranjan Debvarma Smriti Stadium in Arundhatinagar Police Line from Arksha Daptar. They paid tribute to the memory of all the police personnel and security forces jawans who were martyred while on duty and laid wreaths at the memorial.

On this day, the Chief Minister said that the security forces are performing an important duty to keep the society safe and healthy from the hands of anti-social elements and criminals. Police are working day and night to ensure the safety of citizens.

 

In his words, the police should patiently listen to people’s problems and sincerely try to resolve those problems. The state government believes in transparent policy. So things should be done with transparency so that people remember them in future.

 

The Chief Minister said that the police have identified the illegal Rohingya infiltrators and are taking legal action against them. The State Police’s relentless efforts against drugs in the ‘Nesha Mukt Tripura’ campaign continue. SIT has been formed to investigate drug related cases. Tripura tops the Northeast in terms of recovery and destruction of drug paraphernalia. Various measures have also been taken to prevent road accidents.

 

He claimed that crime branch police station has been started in Agartala. Efforts are underway by the police. 33 percent seats are reserved for women in state police recruitment. For the first time, 137 women jawans have been inducted into the TSR force. They are currently undergoing training. Tripura ranks fifth from the bottom among the country’s 28 states in terms of overall crime. Tripura ranks third lowest among other states in the country in terms of property crime.

On this day, he emphasized that law and order in the state and incident-free state assembly elections and recently two by-elections were completed peacefully due to the hard work of security personnel at all levels. The government has launched various schemes for the protection of women and children. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the State Police. Every police station in the state has been brought under CCTV cameras. At present, a plan has been taken to install CCTV cameras based on artificial intelligence. Moreover, there are plans to launch a video analysis system for video data analysis. He said that GPS based vehicle system; national highway patrol system has been introduced in all districts.
