New Delhi, Aug 19: In an effort to foster national pride and awareness among schoolchildren, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has unveiled two educational modules on Operation Sindoor, India’s counter-terror response to the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack. The initiative, aimed at Classes 3 to 12, seeks to instil values of courage, justice, and national responsibility.

Launched as supplementary material, the modules come three months after Operation Sindoor — a coordinated military retaliation that followed the Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 civilian lives. The modules describe the operation as more than a military strike, framing it as a “national commitment to peace, justice, and the memory of the victims.”

According to the content, the Pahalgam attack was carried out under “direct orders” from Pakistan’s political and military leadership, despite Pakistan’s denial. In response, on May 7, 2025, India launched precision strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). Seven camps were destroyed by the Army, while the Air Force targeted Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed bases in Muridke and Bahawalpur.

The modules underline India’s restraint and moral high ground, stressing that every target was carefully verified to avoid civilian casualties. They highlight the coordinated efforts of the Army, Air Force, and strategic command, marking Operation Sindoor as a turning point in India’s counter-terror doctrine.

Tailored versions have been released: Operation Sindoor – A Saga of Valour for Classes 3–8, and Operation Sindoor – A Mission of Honour and Bravery for Classes 9–12. Both emphasise India’s defence preparedness, advanced technology, and principled global stance, while also noting the strong condemnation of terrorism by local Kashmiri residents.

Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the module declares: “Operation Sindoor is not an ordinary military operation. It is a confluence of India’s policy, intent, and decisive capability.”
