Agartala (Tripura), Jul 24. That Tripura is based on agricultural activities and contribution of agriculture in GSDP of Tripura is known to all. The state Tripura is also going forward with the direction of NABARD in the area of agriculture and other rural infrastructure development.
Shaji K V, Chairman of NABARD has visited Tripura and a sanction letter for grant assistance from NABARD sponsored Farm Sector Promotion Fund (FSPF) towards “Field Demonstration and Technology in Promotion of Small Millet in Gomati District Tripura” has given to Bagma Agri Producer Company Limited (BAPCL) in NABARD regional office while Loken Das, GM of NABARD in Tripura RO attended with other dignitaries.
Sudip Majumder, MD of BAPCL has informed that a total of Rs: 4,37,800 had been sanctioned by NABARD with an eye to implement the project on field demonstration and technology in promotion of small millet in Gomati District under farm sector promotion scheme.
Dr. Farukul Islam, Agricultural Scientist and CEO of BAPCL said a total of two blocks under Gomati district to be covered this project for one year and the goal of this project to increase in income of beneficiaries through training and capacity building, demonstration and establishing backward & forward linkages that should lead to improve agricultural practices and cultivation of millets by farmers of adjacent villages in the state.
Kiran Bhowmik, PhD Scholar of Agricultural Economics,Department of Economics in Tripura University said the farmers in tribal areas had done their agricultural activities with traditional knowledge that might not be an instrument for going forward through agriculture. The government of Tripura is trying its level best but the organization like NABARD is able to take free decisions in the matter of development because the autonomous decision is necessary for solving the problem for the benefit of farmers.
Sanjib Dey, Board of Director for BAPCL said the project of NABARD should be implemented with highest effort because it is not only a challenge but also honour to achieve it for the benefit of Tripura farmers.
