Agartala: Feb 16: The renovation and reconstruction work at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple, part of the Prasad project initiated after the BJP government took office, is nearing completion. The temple is set to be inaugurated in March, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Union Home Minister Amit Shah likely to attend the event. This announcement was made by Minister Sushanta Chowdhury during a press briefing on Sunday. He further revealed that the Chief Minister of Tripura is currently in Delhi, where he has extended invitations to both the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister, requesting their time for the inauguration ceremony.
The reconstruction of the Mata Tripureswari Temple has received significant financial backing, with the Central Government contributing approximately Rs 38 crore under the Prasad scheme. Additionally, the state government has allocated around Rs 7 crore for the project. This initiative is part of a broader plan by the government to revitalize Tripura’s tourism sector and promote the state as a major tourist destination.
Minister Chowdhury also outlined plans to bring transformative changes to Tripura’s tourism infrastructure with the help of the Government of India and the Asian Development Bank. Several projects have been lined up to enhance the state’s appeal as a tourist hub. One major project is the development of new infrastructure at Sonamukhi in Unakoti, which will be built at a cost of Rs 70 crore. This will include guest houses, log huts, and an ultra-modern park, designed to improve the overall tourist experience.
Furthermore, the government is focusing on eco-tourism, with initiatives to develop the three islands of the Dombar reservoir. The projects are expected to be completed within the next one to one and a half years, marking a significant leap in the state’s tourism development.
