Agartala, Oct 15 : Preparations are underway for the inauguration of a Doppler Weather Radar Station and several development projects in South Tripura on October 28, with Chief Minister Manik Saha scheduled to formally launch the facilities, officials said.
The South Tripura district administration on Wednesday conducted a review meeting and inspection to assess the preparedness for the programme and ensure the timely completion of the projects.
Senior district administration officials, representatives of various government departments and a Scientist-D from the Meteorological Centre in Agartala participated in the review exercise.
During the inspection, officials assessed the progress of ongoing construction and development works, examined infrastructure readiness and reviewed logistical arrangements for the scheduled inauguration.
Particular emphasis was laid on completing all pending works within the stipulated timeframe. The departments concerned were directed to expedite the remaining tasks and maintain close coordination to prevent delays, officials said.
The meeting also reviewed arrangements for the inauguration ceremony and discussed the responsibilities of different departments and agencies to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme.
Officials stressed the need for effective inter-departmental coordination, timely execution of assigned responsibilities and comprehensive planning to ensure that all preparations were completed before the chief minister’s visit.
The Doppler Weather Radar Station is expected to strengthen weather monitoring capabilities in South Tripura and surrounding areas, helping improve forecasting and preparedness for extreme weather events.
The facility is expected to support the timely dissemination of weather-related information and help authorities plan responses to adverse conditions, including heavy rainfall and storms.
Improved weather monitoring infrastructure is particularly important for disaster preparedness in the northeastern region, which experiences seasonal heavy rainfall and other weather-related challenges.
Apart from the radar station, several development projects are scheduled to be inaugurated during the chief minister’s visit. These initiatives are expected to contribute to infrastructure development and improve public services in the district.
The administration has directed the departments concerned to ensure that the projects are ready for inauguration and that all associated arrangements are completed before the deadline.
Officials said the review exercise was intended to identify pending work, address logistical requirements and strengthen coordination among the agencies involved in the programme.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to completing the projects on time, describing the upcoming inauguration as an important step towards strengthening weather monitoring infrastructure and advancing development in South Tripura.
