Agartala March 4: The ruling party lost the polls. Their vote went up from 51 percent in 2018 to 40 percent in the recently concluded elections. That means 60 percent people voted against BJP. BJP won the majority of the seats due to the division of votes among the various parties despite getting the least number of votes. It is a moral defeat for BJP. CPIM State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury said this while facing the media on Saturday.

He said, BJP has not been accepted by the people. BJP would not have won without vote sharing. Jitendra Chowdhury said about the sharing of seats between Left Front and Congress that the Left Front and Congress have succeeded in reducing BJP votes by fighting unitedly. In fact, no mistake has been noticed so far in the settlement of seats between the two parties. But still the state committee will review this defeat said Jitendra Chowdhury. Answering questions from reporters, Mr. Chowdhury said that the coming together of the Left Front and the Congress before the elections has led the people of the state to take to the streets to save democracy. In particular, efforts to re-establish the rule of law have begun and will continue in the days to come. He also said that in the last five years, the BJP and IPFT alliance has been incessantly terrorizing the government, oppressing people and looting various government offices. And as soon as the polls came, they brought dozens of leaders from Delhi to Tripura using half a dozen helicopters and spent crores of rupees. Still BJP did not get majority votes.

Ever since the lifting of the Code of Contact, the state has experienced severe terrorism in the ruling party. More than five hundred people in the state have bled till Friday night. More than 600 houses have been affected. Vehicles are not allowed to drive on the streets and shops are not allowed to open because they are supporters of the opposition party. So far no sedition has been arrested. There is no appeal from the ruling party. Such vindictiveness by the ruling party spells bleak future for democracy. People will be forced to stand against them. They will inform the governor about this terror next Sunday. The demand will be made to bring the government back to its senses. People want this terrorism to stop immediately, he said.
