Khelo Tripura Para Games Inaugurated in West Tripura

Agartala: Dec 03: On Tuesday, the Khelo Tripura Para Games for West Tripura district were inaugurated at the Khudiram Bose English Medium School ground in the capital. Minister Tinku Ray lit the lamp to officially inaugurate the games. Addressing the participating athletes, he said, “If you have a fixed goal, you will definitely succeed. No one can stop you.”

He further added that the central government has been working for the welfare of differently-abled children for the past 10 years. Several steps have been taken to enhance their self-esteem. The pension for the differently-abled has been increased from Rs. 500 to Rs. 2000. Earlier, a sum of Rs. 5000 was given for marriage, which has now been increased to Rs. 50,000 by the present government.

He also announced that the winners of today’s competition will participate in the Para Olympics at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in the capital on 18th and 19th December.

Apart from Minister Tinku Ray, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumdar and others were also present at the event.
