Panaji, Oct 4: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday categorically ruled out any alliance with the Congress for the 2027 Goa Assembly elections, asserting that his party would contest independently.

“There will be no alliance with the Congress under any circumstances,” Kejriwal said, dismissing speculation that some AAP workers in Goa were exploring a pre-poll understanding with the grand old party.

Speaking to reporters after inaugurating a new AAP office in Mayem, 16 km from Panaji, the former Delhi Chief Minister accused the Congress of betraying the people of Goa repeatedly. “The Congress has become a wholesale supplier of MLAs to the BJP over the years. Can it assure voters that its legislators will not defect again?” he asked.

Kejriwal recalled that between 2017 and 2019, 13 Congress MLAs joined the BJP, followed by another 10 legislators switching sides in 2022. “If we ally with the Congress, it would mean indirectly helping the BJP. We will not be part of any such arrangement,” he said.

Vowing to end what he called Goa’s “decayed political system,” Kejriwal said the state had been ruled for decades by 13–14 political families who alternated between the BJP and Congress for personal gain. “It is time to uproot this system and offer Goa a new, honest, and people-centric political alternative,” he declared.

Kejriwal promised that under an AAP government, citizens would have the power to decide which development projects should be implemented and how public resources, including land, should be used.

He alleged that Goa’s wealth and resources were being controlled by a few influential families who continue to “loot the state and stash money in Swiss banks.” Kejriwal said AAP’s vision is to return that power and prosperity to the people of Goa.
