The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) organised a one-day organisational seminar at the Chechua Community Hall under the Ampi Nagar block in Gomati district on Saturday, aiming to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure ahead of the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

The programme was organised by the IPFT North Amarpur Division and witnessed the participation of a large number of party activists representing various village committees from across the Ampi block. According to party officials, the seminar focused on organisational strategies, party expansion, and key issues affecting indigenous communities residing in the TTAADC areas, with special emphasis on preparations for the forthcoming ADC polls.

Addressing the gathering, senior IPFT leader Sindhu Chandra Jamatia reiterated the party’s commitment to raising and safeguarding issues concerning indigenous people. He stressed the need for unity, cooperation, and active participation of community members to achieve the party’s political objectives. His address primarily centred on mobilising cadres and strengthening organisational discipline in the run-up to the ADC elections, officials said.

A joining programme was also held during the seminar, where 48 voters, who had earlier been associated with other political parties, formally joined the IPFT. The new entrants were welcomed by IPFT North Amarpur divisional president Braja Dayal Jamatia, who expressed confidence that their induction would further reinforce the party’s base at the grassroots level. He also briefed the gathering on various organisational activities being carried out by the party in the Ampi region.

Several senior leaders and party functionaries were present at the event, including Sunil Debbarma, Chairman of the Mungiakami Block Advisory Committee, former divisional president Binoy Kumar Jamatia, IWFT central assistant general secretary Milan Devi Jamatia, and IPFT central committee member Maniram Kalai. A number of local leaders, workers, and supporters also attended the programme.

Party officials stated that similar organisational meetings and outreach programmes would be organised in other parts of Gomati district as part of the party’s broader strategy to prepare for the TTAADC elections.
