Agartala: August 28: In a significant move, the Tripura Legislative Assembly will now have interpreters present during its sessions. Recognizing the importance of regional and provincial languages, this special system will be introduced starting September 4th, as announced by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath.
During the assembly sessions, interpreters will ensure effective communication across languages. If members speak in Kokborok, Bengali, or English, their words will be promptly translated into the desired language, allowing all attendees to understand and participate.
The demand for this system dates back to the previous government’s tenure, but it remained unimplemented. Now, under the BJP-led government, this arrangement has been put in place. The Speaker and assembly members jointly made this decision, emphasizing their commitment to promoting linguistic diversity within the state.
The BJP government aims to foster the growth of regional languages and hopes that this system will eventually extend to various parts of Tripura.
