Agartala: Feb 23: A resident of Dharmanagar is currently in critical condition at GB Hospital following an attack involving nationalist groups. The individual, who is the parent of a student from Anandabazar Jiban Tripura School, sustained significant injuries during a confrontation between nationalist leaders and protesters opposing the transfer of a teacher.
The situation escalated when, after legal action was taken against the attackers, the parent was reportedly assaulted in retaliation. Despite the identification of those involved, there has been limited response from local law enforcement to hold the perpetrators accountable.
The incident has had severe repercussions for the victim’s family, particularly his two daughters. Due to ongoing threats, the daughters are confined to their home, living in a state of fear. One of the daughters, scheduled to sit for her secondary examinations this year, faces uncertainty about her ability to attend school and complete her exams.
The family has voiced concerns over the lack of police action, urging authorities to take swift and effective measures to ensure justice for their father and to secure their own safety. As the situation remains unresolved, the family continues to live in a state of distress and uncertainty.
This incident underscores the challenges faced by residents in Dharmanagar and highlights concerns over the capacity of local law enforcement to address such matters, leaving the community feeling vulnerable.
