Grandson’s machete attack claims life of elderly woman

Agartala, September 3:In a tragic incident an elderly woman lost her life when her grandson, identified as Bijoy Das, attacked her with a machete. This distressing event occurred on a Sunday morning in Santirbazar, located in southern Tripura.

Upon arrival at the crime scene, police discovered the victim’s lifeless body in the kitchen, surrounded by a pool of blood, with the machete used in the attack found nearby.

Shougat Chakma, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Santirbazar, said that the victim, Khukurani Das, suffered severe injuries to her head and hand during the attack, resulting in her tragic passing at the scene. The attacker, Bijoy Das, was reportedly dealing with mental health issues at the time of the incident.

He is currently in police custody.
