Agartala: August 25: Following heavy rainfall on 21st and 22nd August, a flood situation has emerged across the state, with approximately 128,000 people taking shelter in relief camps. Many areas remain submerged, preventing people from returning to their homes. Numerous individuals are still staying in various schools, including Pratapgarh English Medium School in the capital.
On Sunday afternoon, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu visited Pratapgarh English Medium School to meet with those staying in the temporary camp. He inquired about the availability of proper food and drinking water and inspected their quality. The Governor also visited the health camp within the temporary camp and spoke with the doctors.
Addressing the media, Governor Nallu stated that the state government had promptly communicated with the central government as soon as the flood situation arose in Tripura. In response, the central government immediately dispatched an NDRF team to the state and provided a grant of 40 crore rupees. The state government has also quickly established camps to provide shelter to the affected people. The Governor noted that the government is doing everything possible to manage the situation and commended the swift handling of the crisis, given Tripura’s small size.
The Governor was accompanied by the local councilor and Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Monika Das Dutta, along with officials from various departments.
