With a firm commitment to building a drug-free Tripura, the Gomati District Police, under the initiative of Tripura Police, organized a marathon titled ‘Run for Neshamukt Tripura’ as part of the ongoing Tripura Police Week 2026 celebrations.
The awareness run was held early Thursday morning in Udaipur town and witnessed enthusiastic participation from police personnel, local youth, students, and residents. The marathon commenced from Ramesh Chowmuhani and passed through several key roads of the town before culminating at the District Armed Reserve Office premises at Police Line. The spirited participation and vibrant atmosphere reflected strong community support for the anti-drug campaign.
The event was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police Rishav, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Debanjali Roy, along with inspectors and officers from different police stations under the subdivision. Senior officials encouraged participants and reiterated the importance of collective responsibility in tackling the growing menace of substance abuse.
Addressing the gathering, ASP Rishav stressed that eliminating drug abuse cannot be achieved solely through law enforcement measures. He underlined the need for widespread social awareness and proactive involvement from all sections of society. “Families, educational institutions, community leaders, and the administration must work together to guide young people towards a healthy and productive life,” he said.
He further informed that the district police have been regularly conducting awareness drives, organizing workshops in schools and colleges, and intensifying anti-narcotics operations. He assured that strict vigilance and sustained enforcement actions against drug trafficking and consumption would continue across the district.
The marathon, one among several public-centric initiatives under Police Week 2026, has drawn a positive response, reinforcing the collective resolve to combat addiction and safeguard the future of Tripura.
