Agartala: May 25: After a prolonged period of inactivity, the Delhiwala Petrol Pump in Jaynagar, Jirania, was officially reopened on Sunday under the new name “Ganpati Petrol Pump.” The establishment is now under the ownership of local businessman Gautam Pal.
The inauguration ceremony was led by Minister of Transport and Tourism, Sushanta Chowdhury, who marked the occasion by lighting a ceremonial lamp and cutting a ribbon. Several prominent figures, including Chief Whip of the State Legislative Assembly Kalyani Saha Roy, Mandal President Ranjit Roy Chowdhury, and Jirania Municipality Chairperson Ratan Das, were present to witness the event.
To commemorate the reopening, a devotional chanting ceremony and sacred rituals were performed at the petrol pump premises. Additionally, a special social initiative was held, where elderly mothers were honored and gifted clothing as a gesture of respect. Gautam Pal personally participated in the event, presenting garments to senior citizens.
Addressing the media, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury expressed optimism about the impact of the petrol pump’s relaunch. He noted, “With this petrol pump now operational, local residents will have access to necessary services, and those who were previously employed here will get the opportunity to work again. This is undoubtedly a positive step forward.”
The reopening has generated enthusiasm among residents and members of the business community. Many believe that the relaunch of Ganpati Petrol Pump will contribute to the economic and social development of the Jirania region.
